"Life Lessons" is a personal essay about the bonds of friendship in the face of adversity. It was through the development of an unlikely friendship with two coworkers that I was able to come to terms with my own growth into adulthood. I experienced a shift where their struggles became more significant than the trivial matters of my own life. Despite this shift, I was still unprepared for the abrupt confrontation of one of my coworker’s cancer diagnosis.
