Biography

My name is Nigel Wallace. I am a graduate student studying Public Administration. I recently founded a business titled "Remnant Group" that unites the likeminded, and glorifies their efforts to inspire change within the world. I am also penning two books, one set to release in 2017, as well as one set to release in 2018. I love self-development, creative writing, and freedom of expression.

Abstract

A Byrd and His Thorn

This project is titled “A Byrd and His Thorn” due to the fact that Robert C. Byrd is widely known for the stent that he was associated with the Ku Klux Klan.

Byrd’s association with the Ku Klux Klan is widely known, and most notably attached to the legacy that he left in West Virginia upon his passing.

We all have our “thorns” if you will. In a world where success is glorified, even more so, the faults of the successor are judged more closely. There is beauty in the chaos of our decisions, that is why I chose to select this topic as the body of my project.

Byrd did much for the state of West Virginia. If it were not for Byrd’s association with the Klan, his legacy may not have been magnified to the extent that it has been today.

Byrd is mostly remembered for what he was associated with, and not who he was. For all of the harsh attentions he received for being a part of the Klan, he should receive ample appreciation for the initiatives that he put through appropriations for African American people. From the outside looking in (with the right set of eyes), you could see that many of his actions opposed the “idealistic” standpoints of the Klan. In this research paper, I will provide factual information, and exploit the good accomplished for Black Americans in West Virginia at the hands of Robert C. Byrd.
