C.S.S. Alabama: A Virtual Exhibit
Virtual or On-line Exhibit
This is a virtual exhibit devoted to the Confederate vessel, the CSS Alabama. The Alabama, built in 1862, was a raider that sought out and attack Union shipping in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans during the American Civil War. It was sunk by the USS. Kearsarge in a naval battle off Cherbourg, France, in June 1864. The exhibit includes a wide variety of materials on the ship, such as photographs, official Confederate and Union reports, personal reminiscences, building plans, music, maps, political cartoons, illustrations, crew lists etc.
