Abstract

Academic performance is a popular evaluation criterion used in higher education admission and job-granting decisions. In higher education, the admission is primarily based on the students’ promises as future students in the current education system and these promises are measured mainly by students’ cognitive abilities, i.e., grades, achievement tests and aptitude tests. For a job candidate selection, academic performance is also observed to play a part in decision making process since employers require an education credential such as a college degree. However, researchers have shown their concerns on whether there is a relation between the academic performance and job achievement and whether this relationship can be explained.
