Biography:
Leonardo Bravo has developed an extensive career as a soloist, giving concerts and classes in countries of America, Europe and Asia. His repertoire extends from classical music to tango and Argentine folkloric music. Leonardo Bravo received his academic degree from the School of Music of Rosario National University and attended several international courses, studying with many maestros such as Marlos Nobre (Brazil), Victor Villadangos (Argentina), Eduardo Isaac (Argentina), Jose Luis Rodrigo (Spain), and Abel Carlevaro (Uruguay). First prize winner of several prestigious classical guitar competitions, he is also deeply involved with chamber music and professional perform in ensembles featuring the guitar with flute, voice, marimba, Koto, and the guitar in duo.
In addition he has participated in groups playing ancient music and has performed with orchestras. A specialist in the popular music of Argentina, Mr. Bravo's concerts always include folk music from his homeland. He is continually searching for new Argentinean music and working in his own compositions and arrangements. In 1991 he was appointed Professor of Guitar at Rosario National University, and is renowned for his achievements in promoting folkloric music in a classical music environment. He is acknowledged for the quality of his teaching, and many of his students are well known in the national and international scene. He currently lives in Fukuoka city, Japan. Mr. Bravo is a recipient of the Joan C. Edwards Distinguished Professor of the Arts for the year 2009.
