Black and white india ink sketch of Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, by Jacques Reich. Reich’s distinctive initials “JR” on front. Reich was born in Hungary in 1852, and after studying art in Budapest, he came to the US in 1873.Most of his images of Civil War individuals was completed in the 1880’s when he was producing work for Appleton’s Cyclopedia and Scribner’s Cyclopedia. Ca. 1885, item # 2006.0703.241, 13.5 x 11 cm.
