Session Description

Most academic librarians are required to publish for promotion and tenure but where do they find the time to write? Many teaching faculty, graduate students, and librarians start writing groups for motivation, accountability, peer-review and editing. The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Director of Faculty Development and the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Library piloted a faculty writing group during the summer of 2017. This presentation will discuss this pilot as well as current literature on faculty writing groups and the practices reflected in the literature that have had successful outcomes.
