Location Information
The conference will be held at Marshall University in Huntington, WV, home of the Appalachian Studies Association. Marshall serves nearly 14,000 students on two campuses and offers 52 undergraduate degrees, 51 graduate degrees, a graduate certificate in Appalachian studies, and is home to the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Gender in Appalachia. The town of Huntington, West Virginia, boasts a thriving and unique area of shops and restaurants, many locally owned and operated. Most shops are within easy walking distance to campus and will be offering special events and discounts for conference attendees. In addition to Appalachian films playing in a beautifully renovated theatre downtown, Saturday will feature a “Stroll, Sip, and Shop” event sponsored by local businesses featuring local foods, art, and other products. Be sure to request the Appalachian Studies Association conference rate. Rates are subject to taxes and some will vary depending on the number of people.
