Description

This is an interview about fake news and information literacy with West Virginia Participant (White/Male/56), interviewed on October 23, 2023. The participant agreed to the terms as outlined in the informed consent form proceeding this interview. Some of the broad conversations that took place during this interview were about fake news when the participant explained how lying is not a new thing in this world. Another topic touched on was social media where he explained that it can be easy to believe stuff on there because the apps are putting information you want to hear in front of you. Finally, we also spoke on some conspiracies about former and current presidents and how he didn’t believe that these conspiracies, true or false should be what sways ones vote in either direction. This was a group-work collaboration. Dr. Stephen Underhill was the primary investigator for this project.
