The Villa Guitar Duo formed by Rodrigo Almeida and Daniel Duarte was established in 2004; The Duo has developed a broad repertoire of guitar duos, with a great variety of music from the baroque period to contemporary styles, Latin American composer’s as Villa-Lobos and Piazzolla and crossover arrangements of traditional music from its native Brazil. They won some of the most prestigious competitions of guitar and chamber music in Latin America as Souza Lima guitar competition, Musicalis guitar competition, Latin American Chamber music competition, Petrobras chamber music competition, also the duo was the only guitar ensemble to receive an Honorary mention in the 3rd inte rnational Chamber Music Ensemble Competition hosted by the Chamber Music Foundation of New England. The ensemble has an intense participation in concerts, playing in the most important venues of Brazil and in countries of Latin America. In 2009 the duo had its first US tour, performing in cities as New York, Boston and Philadelphia. In 2012 the ensemble will have its first European tour, performing concerts in Italy, Germany and Serbia. The ensemble’s primary studies were with Henrique Pinto, he worked with the duo until the end of their bachelor’s degree in Brazil. They along with the most important guitarists of our times as Eliot Fisk (USA),Fabio Zanon (Brazil), Denis Azabagic (Bosnia), Stefan Grondona (Italy), Pablo Sainz Villegas (Spain), Thomas Patterson (USA), Nora Buschmann (Germany) and Berta Rojas (Paraguay). The debut CD, Rodrigo Almeida and Daniel Duarte, was released in 2007 to wide critical acclaim and a second CD is going to be released in 2012.
