Abstract

This collection is composed of one scrapbook and several folders of materials related to the Huntington High School commemoration of Mae Newman’s retirement as principal. The collection is substantially composed of correspondence to Newman on this event as well as a wooden scrapbook featuring a significant number of images from her tenure as principal, estimated between 1957 and 1963. Photographs document student life and faculty life at Huntington High School. Foldered items include correspondence and telegrams to Newman, as well as a scrapbook cover, newspaper clippings, and a program for her retirement party. The accession record for this collection states that there were originally two scrapbooks. It is believed that the items in the box are from one scrapbook, and the still intact wooden scrapbook is the other.
