At-A-Glance Bios- Presenter #1

Joanna Cruickshank is Senior Lecturer in History at Deakin University, Australia. She contributed “The Sermon in the British Colonies” to The Oxford Handbook of the British Sermon, 1689-1901. Her chapter will be part of a larger project exploring how nineteenth and twentieth-century encounters between white audiences and Indigenous, Black, and Asian preachers were structured by or challenged racial hierarchies.

At-A-Glance Bios- Presenter #2

Michael Gladwin is Senior Lecturer in History at Charles Sturt University in Canberra, Australia. His research focuses on the religious, cultural, and intellectual history of Australia in the context of modern British and European history, with particular interest in the relationship between war and religion, the history of Australian Anglicanism, and the place of sermons and preaching in Australian public life. He is also editor of St Mark’s Review, which has featured special themed issues on the history of preaching in Australia. He is currently writing the first scholarly history of the Australian Bible Society, Australia’s oldest continuously running organization.
