Description
This cachet is the first in a five-cachet set, printed by J. H. Tingley of New York City in 1861. The set is entitled: “Champion Prize Envelope ~ Lincoln & Davis in 5 Rounds.” The fifth and last envelope in the set depicts Lincoln as the winner and receiving the prize belt. The set was entered Act of Congress in 1861, the forerunner to a copyright. Ca. 1861, Blake scrapbook, five items, 15 x 8.5 cm.
