Coal and It's Story: Development of a 21st Century Coal Community

Presentation #1 Abstract or Summary

As part of the 2013 Appalachian Teaching Project students researched historic coal sites in north central WV and developed suggestions for utilizing crowdsourcing and electronic wayfinding to develop and enhance heritage tourism in the region. The compilation of this project was a presentation at the Appalachian Regional commission's Appalachian Teaching Project Conference in Washington DC in December of 2013. Student pariticpans are presenting a summary of their work through this poster session.

Dena is a 2012 graduate of FSU with a Masters in Education. For her final project she coordinated the ATP students and their project.

Christy Collins is a Junior at FSU, pursuing a degree in Accounting.

Jaimie Turner is a Senior at FSU, she will graduating with a BS in Psychology in the Spring of 2014.

At-A-Glance Bio- Presenter #4

Joanna Ross is a Junior at FSU. She plans to complete her degree in the Fall of 2014 and continue her education in Appalachian Studies.
