Exploring the History of Western Virginia and West Virginia Through West Virginia and Regional History Center (WVRHC) Archival Resources

This poster session is an exhibit and database demonstration of West Virginia and Regional History Center (WVRHC) online library and archival catalogs, guides, and digital collections. Located in the Charles C. Wise, Jr. Library on the West Virginia University Downtown Campus, the WVRHC is the largest repository of West Virginia related research materials in existence. The WVRHC acquires books, periodicals, pamphlets, state goverment publications, newspapers, microfilm, ephemera, oral histories, photographs, manuscripts, maps, sound recordings and other resources about West Virginia, the immediate surrounding region, and Central Appalachia which have historic and scholarly research value for the study of West Virginia. Among the Center's collections featured in this exhibit/database demonstration are early maps of western Virginia and West Virginia, historical photographs from West Virginia History OnView, early statehood pamphlets from the Printed Ephemera Collection, and the Civil War Telegram Series from the Papers of Franics H. Pierpont, Governor, Restored Government of Virginia.
