Presentation #1 Title
Using Technology to Create and Share Appalachian History
Presentation #1 Abstract or Summary
I would like to facilitate a discussion with other Appalachian historians who are interested in using technology to share their research with the community. Several years ago, I worked with Marshall students to develop the Carter G. Woodson project--a website dedicated to African American history in Appalachia. This year I am working with CIS and history students to create a GPS-based smartphone application that will guide users to the historic points of interest. My goal is to hear from other scholars who have an interest in these kinds of projects to share ideas and consider opportunities for collaboration.
