Autoethnography of an Appalasian
Presentation #1 Abstract or Summary
Reflection of life as a biracial Caucasian and Asian born in early the 50's and living in Appalachia throughout an entire life is the focus of this paper. Examination of the blending of cultures and assimilation into the Appalachian culture will be addressed along with historical information regarding the attitudes of biracial unions and how the census refused to acknowledge biracial individuals for many years.
