Live music performance of Acoustic Blues
Presentation #1 Abstract or Summary
Country music, rock music, jazz and hip hop where do they all come from? From personal testimony and experience they come from the Blues and the blues were found in the mountains of Appalachia. Once the blues were heard in the mountains and attracted the right listeners the blues form was taken and modified and Bluegrass music was infected. My performance and presentation will be an original blues song on an acoustic guitar in the rawest form of the blues, Delta Blues. "The blues tell a story and gives people a feeling" says the late Blues belter Jimmy Rushing, kin to Rick Rushing. Roots of Jimmy Rushing's music can be heard in Rick Rushing's and it's obvious that the passion and feeling of that gene got to Rick from Jimmy Rushing. Blues songs are wise, they are tested and they are truth, well most of them. Sit back and allow the music to take you back to the Appalachians mountains Ill be your guide.
At-A-Glance Bio- Presenter #1
African American Blues guitarist singer and songwriter Rick Rushing, learned the Blues down south in Chattanooga Tennessee after many years of lessons in the basement of an older friend and bluesman. Since learning this musical Artform Rick is now a full time musician and volunteers as the President of the board of directors at The Folk School of Chattanooga where Music Education, Community and preserving the Arts are forefront of their mission.
