The Virginia Rural Health Association (VRHA) will host a panel discussion which will describe how communities can create partnerships with their local healthcare providers and leverage federal funds to improve broadband connections in their area. VRHA will provide examples from the Indiana Rural Health Association, which secured over $16 million in federal funds to lay fiber in 35 rural communities and describe how VRHA is starting a similar initiative in Virginia which can be replicated in other areas.

Beth O'Connor has been the Executive Director of the Virginia Rural Health Association since 2005. A dedicated advocate, she is a past chair of the National Rural Health Association Government Affairs Committee and the NRHA State Association Council.

Mindy Thorpe is a recent graduate of the Virginia Tech Masters of Public Health program and is interning at the Virginia Rural Health Association as a VISTA volunteer.
