Where Mountains Meet Mountains: Reflections on the Thinking Mountains Summit
Session Abstract or Summary
This roundtable will include several scholars who participated in the Thinking Mountains Summit in Banff, Alberta, Canada, in October 2018. We will each describe our experience, including how we found out about the conference. Our goal is to start a conversation within the Appalachian Studies community about our region in a global context, as well as to provide information on opportunities for international mountain conferences.

Nicole Drewitz-Crockett is Associate Professor of English at Emory & Henry College in Emory, VA. She is the director of the E&H Literary Festival and the editor of The Iron Mountain Review.

Katherine Ledford is Associate Professor of Appalachian Studies at Appalachian State University. She is currently co-editing a comprehensive anthology of Appalachian literature; it will be published by the University of Kentucky Press in 2020.

Bethann Bowman is Assistant Professor of English at Young Harris College. She is also the director of the school's Appalachian Studies minor.
