Description
The 12 sermons in this collection address such topics as “The Death of Christ,” “The Triumph of Christianity over Death,” and “Heaven” and “The Judgment.” The book was republished as Volume 1 of Posthumous Works of the Rev. Henry B. Bascom, D.D., LL.D., One of the Bishops of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South (Nashville, TN: Publishing House of the M. E. Church, South, 1905).
A statement in the Preface reads: "The following discourses go to the press, in the precise form in which they were prepared for the pulpit. No one of them was written with a view to publication. They are in fact the 'Preaching Notes' of the author, as used by him in preparing for the pulpit, during a term of more than thirty years" (p. 7).
