Description
Illinois Central Railroad engine #382, "The Cannonball," piloted by Casey Jones, wrecked Apr. 30, 1900, b&w Note on bottom and back of photo states this is Illinois Central (IC) Railroad engine #382, which was wrecked Apr. 30, 1900, killing the engineer John Luther "Casey" Jones. This engine was a 4-6-0 wheel arrangement steam engine (known as a "10-wheeler") built by Rogers Locomotive Works about 1898. It was rebuilt and renumbered after the famous wreck.
