Abstract

Abstract: Japanese society is being influenced by the mindsets of the past. Traditional concepts that have been passed on through Buddhism and Shintoism are holding Japan back from making forward social progress. This project examines how Buddhism and Shintoism have impacted the lives of contemporary Japanese society. Discussion focuses on ostracization based on occupation and neglection of western medicine in favor of spiritual cure. The efforts should be made to make religious backgrounds more visible so the general public does not blindly partake in socially limiting or suppressing procedures.
