My name is Tanner Wooten and I'm from Clarksburg, WV. I am currently a senior in the field of Communication Studies. I am also the Vice President of The Thundering Word, which is Marshall's speech and debate team.

Abstract

The Purpose of the Research:

To explore intersectional stigma through the lens of sexual orientation (LGB) and mental illness (bipolar disorder) in the workplace.

The Scientific or Scholarly Rationale:

Individuals that endure stigmatization need to understand how to navigate in the workplace with or without discrimination.

The Risks and Potential Benefits of the Research:

There is minimum risk with this study. The potential benefits of the study are gaining more understanding concerning discrimination in the workplace.

Complete Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria (may be submitted separately if extensive):

Participants who identify as LGB and have a bipolar disorder diagnosis will be recruited for participation in this study. Only persons eighteen and older will be considered for the study.
