Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the effects of mental health literacy, mental health stigma, and depression levels within athletes. It is well established that mental health within the athletic community is becoming increasingly more important. The study aims to raise awareness towards mental health by specifically examining to see if there is a correlation between higher levels of mental health literacy and lower levels of depression, high levels of mental health stigma and depression, and to lower levels of mental health stigma using mental health literacy. Athletes from a collegiate institution are going to be recruited and asked to complete a survey regarding the following things above. The survey will include questions regarding their mental state, mental health knowledge, and questions about different mental health seeking abilities.
