The Fred Lambert Collection consists primarily of notebooks containing information on families and local history of Cabell and Wayne Counties, West Virginia. Included are cemetery readings, copies of deeds, wills, indentures, newspaper articles, research notes and notes of interviews conducted by Mr. Lambert of Cabell County residents. Material on Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Kanawha, and Boone Counties is also included.

Sgt Charles E. Stokes,15x22cm Feb. 16, 1944 S/Sgt. Charles E. Stokes 6915709. Taken in Mackay Australia Nov. - 1944 while on rest-leave from service in New Guinea. Left U.S. Jan. 1942 for Australia. Was instructor there for 6 mo. then sent into New Guinea as Dept. head of Sheet Metal Shops. On this writing he is still in New Guinea but has sent us word that he would be seeing us by July - 1944. Back reads: Express (#2 ? 1870-1879) The banner states that Tte group it is hauling is the I.O.G.T., which was the International Order of the Good Templars, which was different from the Knights Templar. Dismantled and hull served as the Wheeling wharfboat until 1892.
