Description
Unidentified female, Columbus, Oh., ca. 1860's, col. Camp Chase was on the north-west side of Columbus, Ohio and was a Union army training camp, as well as a POW camp for Confederate prisoners during the Civil War. Over 2,200 Confederate soldiers died in Camp Chase and are buried in the Camp Chase Cemetery still maintained in Columbus. Most of the Confederate soldiers captured in what is now West Virginia were sent to Camp Chase.
