The collection contains primarily genealogical notes on the Burnside, and Fulton families. The Burnside family especially is the largest series in the collection and takes up more than half the size. Ms. Reynolds researched and collected prominent documents of members of the Burnside family including a diary, newspaper clippings, articles, and books. Ms. Reynolds also collected an extensive amount of records of her ancestors including census records, war records, and records from the families’ origins in Great Britain. She also collected various materials relating to her interests including items relating to steamboats and British history and ancestry. Several scrapbooks are included in this collection as they catalogue many of Ms. Reynold’s research and also show a glimpse into her personal life with her husband, Wendell S. Reynolds. This collection also contains many letters of correspondence from Ms. Reynolds and her brother, Don Gilham Reynolds, who helped her compile their family ancestry. These letters are addressed to historical institutions, distant family members, and other genealogists which demonstrate Ms. Reynolds’ exhaustive search for information on family members.
