Welcome!
On behalf of over the 200 students, faculty and staff that comprise the Marshall University Department of Music, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 1st Annual Chamber Choir
Invitational. We are honored to have you attend this inaugural event and it is through your commitment to choral music that we are able to host it.
Three talented and distinguished choral conductors will be serving as your "extra sets of ears" today, and I know you will find their comments valuable and worthwhile. This festival was designed to showcase the beauty of the choral art in an educational setting with no winners and losers - just as music should be!
I would be remiss if I didn't thank our choral faculty for their work in organizing this event. Our Director of Choral Activities, Dr. David Castleberry (one of your adjudicators) and, in particular, Mr. Robert Wray have worked diligently to make this day a special one for all involved.
The "choral art” has long held a distinguished and honored place in numerous and varied societies for thousands of years. Today is no different. The strong and storied traditions of
Marshall's choral music now blend with our future - you. Welcome to Marshall and thank you for being a part of our (your) legacy.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeffrey Pappas
Chair
