Hannah Whitehead studied with Richard Weiss of Cleveland Orchestra and was a member of the Cleveland Youth Orchestra for four years. She went on to the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Alan Harris and members of Ying Quartet. While at Eastman she maintained a connection with Cleveland's music scene and was twice invited to perform chamber music with members of the Cleveland Orchestra. From 2008-2011 Hannah was a member of the New World Symphony where she collaborated with Maestro Michael Tilson Thomas, Jeremy Denk, Carter Brey and Roberto Diaz. She also coordinated the "Musician's Forum", a series of free chamber music concerts by the musicians of NWS. As a member of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas she has concertized in Latin America and Europe, and was invited to perform Bach's St. Matthew Passion with Maestro Kent Nagano in Brazil. Her performances have also taken her to Tokyo and Yokohama, Japan. As a member of the National Jeugd Orkest, Hannah traveled to the Netherlands to collaborate with the conductor Reinbert de Leeuw, a renowned champion of contemporary music. She is currently the Assistant Principal cellist of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra.
