Bülent Ateşoğlu

In 1982, Bülent Ateşoğlu, bass, graduated from Ankara State Conservatory with a degree in vocal performance. That same year, he was appointed as soloist singer to the Ankara State Opera & Ballet. His first role was "Umberto" in the opera "La Serva Padrona." He has performed several operatic roles including "Sparafacile" in Rigoletto, ''Fernando" in Il Trovatore, "Raimondo" in Lucia di Lammermoor, “Timur'' in Turandot, "Ramfis" in Aida, "Dulcamara" in L'Elisir d' Amore, "Sarastro" in Magic Flute, ''Falstaff' in Joyous Women of Windsor, "Konchak'' in Prince Igor, "Alfonso" in Cosi Fan Tutte, "Leporello" in Don Giovanni, ''Rodolfo" in La Sonnambula, "Colline" in La Boheme, "Giorgio" in I Puritani, and ''Flippo" in Don Carlo, "Pasquale" in Don Pasquale and "Gremin" in Eugene Onegin. In 1993 and 1994, Mr. Atesoglu studied voice in Italy and gave concerts at various cities there. Besides his appearances in Turkey, Mr. Atesoglu has performed concerts in Azerbaijan, Great Britain, Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria and Egypt.

In addition to the basic opera repertory, he also performs in Turkish national operas. Those include the "Primrose", ''Love & Peace", ''From Lip to Heart'' by Cetin Isikozlu; ''Ears of Midas" by Ferit Tuzun; “Letter of Istanbul" by Turgay Erdener, "Ali Baba & 40 Robbers" by Selman Ada and "Yunus Emre," "Aôratorio" by Adnan Saygun that Mr. Atesoglu also performed in Cairo and in the Vatican in the presence of Pope John Paul II. He has recorded "Yunus Emre" and Primrose. At present, he continues in his post of soloist at the Ankara State Opera & Ballet.

Fűgen Serbest, piano, is the chief staff accompanist of the State Opera and Ballet in Ankara where she has worked since 1980. She has studied at the Ankara State Conservatory with leading teacher Mithat Fenmen. Mrs. Serbest has specialized in vocal accompaniment since her youth. She has toured Europe several times as accompanist and also lived in New York while completing additional studies.
