Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia was founded on October 6, 1898 at the New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts. This evening marks the 107th Anniversary of our fraternity's birth. Earlier this evening, a ceremony was held to honor our founder, Brother Ossian E. Mills, and the formation of the Sinfonia. Today, there are over 200 chapters, 8000 collegiate Sinfonians, and 100,000 living alumni. This makes Phi Mu Alpha the largest music fraternity in America. Here at Marshall, our group is in the colonization phase, during which our members learn how to function as a fraternal group. Upon completion, our members will be initialed as members of Phi Mu Alpha and the Zeta Eta chapter will be reinstalled, having been inactive since before 1980. Membership is offered to all male students of the sheltering institute; academic area of concentration matters not.
We thank you for attending this concert and invite you to attend our next program featuring music by American composers on Thursday, November 17 at 8:00 pm in Smith Recital Hall.
