Located in Huntington, W.Va., about a mile from campus, it was built in 1928 for use by Marshall, the Cabell County Board of Education and the city park board and seated 12,000. Marshall University’s home field for football games. Astroturf installed in 1971. Marshall played its first game following the Marshall plane disaster at Fairfield on September 25, 1971. Marshall played its final game in Fairfield Stadium on November 10, 1990.
