Abstract
This collection consists of materials compiled by William B. Newcomb for family and local history research. All of the materials are copies of original materials or manuscripts written by or about Newcomb regarding family and local history. Notable items in this collection include a microfilm copy of an 1865 diary kept by Margaret Emily Cox, a copy of an autograph album kept by Cox, publications by William B. Newcomb about his family, research about Newcomb’s grandfather William Barkla, copies of photographs, ephemera, and research about the C & O Railroad (including a copy of the periodical “Headlight”), Margaret Neuhaus, and the history of the Anderson-Newcomb Department Store, and a copy of a scrapbook kept by W. H. Newcomb’s wife of obituaries, local history materials, and miscellaneous articles.
