Abstract

This collection contains two binders of genealogical information, titled “Shaffer Family Genealogy” and “McAlister/Fawcett Family Genealogy”. Families mentioned include Shaffer (Shaver), McAlister, Fawcett, Gilmore, Pritchett, Duncan, and Graham, primarily based in Virginia and West Virginia. The Shaffer Civil War letters are copies of the originals sent by Elijah Shaver, William Shaver, and George Shaver while serving in the Civil War on the Confederate side. They write about camp life, war experiences, and hopes that the war will end soon.
