Introduction

Those who participated at the 2018 Conference on Sermon Studies, held October 11-13 in Montreal, Quebec, discussed publishing a special issue of this journal, featuring revised and expanded versions of some of the papers delivered at the conference. It was decided that the first issue would cover both the 2017 and 2018 conferences, with each successive conference receiving an issue of its own. Three scholars responded to the invitation to submit their papers. The articles have gone through several rounds of review by an editorial committee; we are pleased to publish them here, along with an introduction and commentary by Keith Francis, who has provided invaluable assistance in putting the conferences together. From this point on, each conference will receive a special issue of its own. The next one, with papers from the 2019 conference in Dublin, Ireland, will be published sometime in 2020.
