This collection is composed of photographs taken from two albums. The first album appears to depict members of the Harris family, with the textual matter folder of materials found in that album including a page that states, “Presented to Jane/Janie Harris by her Father as a Christmas Gift, December 25th, 1886” and a newspaper clipping about Evangelist pastors speaking in Baltimore. The second album is about the Thornburg (sometimes spelled Thornburgh) family. Photographs are primarily portraits in the cabinet card format and mounted on board, with only a few group portraits. There are five tintypes in the collection.
The digitized items here do not represent the entirety of the Thornburg Family Photographs. To view what other materials are in this collection but not yet digitized and available online, search the guide to the Thornburg Family Photographs.
