Abstract
These items include materials from various sources, including athletic photographs, the Parthenon Photo Morgue, and athletic film footage. This collection exists because it includes the items referenced and used for the "Ashes to Glory" documentary written by Deborah Novak and Joe Witek and directed by Deborah Novak.
For context: This documentary is about the November 14, 1970 Marshall University plane crash that killed 75 people (including 37 members of the 1970 Marshall Thundering Herd football team, most of its coaching staff, and many community members). This film also includes the efforts of new head coach, Jack Lengyel, and the coaching staff to rebuild the team and help heal the city of Huntington, West Virginia with the 1971 "Young Thundering Herd" team who didn't make the trip where so many lives were lost.
