About Adultspan

Adultspan Journal

Adultspan is the principal publication of the Association for Adult Development and Aging (AADA), a division of the American Counseling Association. The journal aims to inform all members in their professional service to adults by:

  • Enhancing skills and competence
  • Fostering the lifelong development and well-being of adults
  • Promoting standards for professional preparation for counselors across the lifespan

Adultspan is currently published on a rolling basis with articles published monthly. Articles are typically on counseling topics affecting a diverse range of populations from early through older adulthood.

Aims & Scope

Adultspan seeks manuscripts illuminating current information about research, theory, and practice in the field of adult development and aging. The journal seeks submissions that provide leadership on innovative topics, focusing on developmental principles and concomitant counseling implications. The journal promotes accurate information regarding counseling and adult development with research, practice, literature review, conceptual, and personal journey articles.

Article Processing Fee

Adultspan has an Article Processing Fee which covers the cost of academic publishing.

Authors are responsible for an article processing fee for accepted manuscripts. Payment must be made within 7 days of the article acceptance. Please submit your receipt of payment along with your confirmation to publish your manuscript in Adultspan. Invoices can be provided upon request.

Fee Amount

$175.00 (USD) For all research, conceptual, literature reviews, and practitioner focused articles, of up to 26 pages.

$75.00 (USD) For all perspective articles, of up to 8 pages.

Instructions for Payment:

  • Payment is accepted through PayPal only. PayPal Link
  • Using the PayPal link, you can pay your APC via Venmo, debit or credit card, or PayPal directly.
  • Payment must be completed within 7 days of acceptance to ensure a timely publication workflow.
  • Invoices can be provided upon request.

*Note. The journal review period is extended between December 1st-January 21st and May 21st - August 1st; please be mindful that if you submit a manuscript during these time periods the review process will be longer than usual.
