Presentation #1 Title

West Virginia master musician, Franklin George

Presentation #1 Abstract or Summary

A powerful voice from the nearby misty mountains of Walton, West Virginia, Franklin George is a talented musician, gifted story-teller and important link to the past. He is mostly known for his Appalachian style fiddling and claw-hammer banjo playing but he was also a bagpiper who traveled the world playing traditional Scottish music during his younger years. In this presentation, I will share some video clips from some visits I made to his home and I will discuss Frank’s fascination with history and the music of the Appalachian region.
