Beyond the Reading Room: Tours of Special Collections, Virginia Tech

Individuals interested in seeing what goes on beyond the Reading Room are invited to tour Special Collections, a department within Newman Library on the Virginia Tech campus. Our mission is to collect, preserve, arrange, describe, and provide access to significant research collections. Manuscript collections, rare books, and University Archives are three major components of Special Collections. Our collecting areas include Local and Regional/Appalachian Studies, as well as, the American Civil War, History of Food and Drink, Science and Technology, and Speculative Fiction. Special Collections is also the home of the International Archives of Women in Architecture.
