Session Title

Growing Food Security and Entrepreneurs: Four Models in the New River Valley

Session Abstract or Summary

This panel will includes four programs using food production to improve the health and economics of the New River Valley. The theme for the conference, "Extreme Appalachia," touches on the impassioned commitments people have to the region and livelihoods of Appalachian communities. Through this panel, we hope to highlight the ways in which food insecurity, food access, low incomes, and limited education and job opportunities are being addressed through food production. By tapping into the regions agricultural roots, these organizations are growing food security and entrepreneurs for a more sustainable future.
