Exploring Graduate and Undergraduate level work in Appalachian Studies
Session Abstract or Summary
This round table will ask participants to talk about their own graduate work and research in the field of Appalachian studies, as well as ways in which they hope the field will evolve for both undergraduates and graduate students in Appalachia. Topics will include Appalachian studies degrees and certificate programs, Appalachian studies centers, and Appalachian studies student organizations. Ideally participants will be able to share best practices and ideas from their own institutions as well as gain insight into what needs to be done in cultivating these programs from the student level at institutions that currently do not have programs for Appalachian students or students who are interested in Appalachian studies.

Tiffany Pennock Arnold is a doctoral candidate at Ohio University in the fields of Education and Appalachian Studies. She is the Assistant Director of the College Achievement Program as well as the Advisor for the Appalachian Student Association at Ohio University.
