Presentation #1 Abstract or Summary
In this creative nonfiction essay, "Stone, Water, Land, Spine," Elizabeth Glass writes of her experiences hiking and the loss of it now that she is disabled. The focus is of the land, and how she can no longer feel the different textures of it beneath her feet. Parts of the essay include hiking in Appalachia. To get a feel for the writing, the first lines of the essay are, "If I could get to Rock Bridge, I would splash in the water beneath it, touch its sandstone, and lie on its damp, mossy top. I’d sit above it at Creation Falls, watch the flowing water. I would think how I want my ashes scattered there one day."
