Presentation #1 Title
Applying the Strategic Prevention Framework in Appalachian & rural communities: Lessons Learned & Hope for the Future
Presentation #1 Abstract or Summary
Please join us for an interactive discussion about Ohio’s Strategic Prevention Framework for Prescription Drug Abuse (Ohio’s SPF Rx) initiative. We will discuss the Strategic Prevention Framework and the relevance of this sustainable and culturally competent framework in the Appalachian communities served by this initiative as well as implementation tips and ideas to take back to your community. As we discuss this initiative’s progress, we will identify barriers and facilitators to our success and share insight into our journey through the five steps and two guiding principles of this planning process. In addition, we will discuss current evaluation efforts and tools available for implementation in your community and give access to free resources to prevent prescription drug misuse and abuse. This discussion will be fertile ground for collaborative work and aims to provide resources and capacity for Coalition’s, organizations and community members to implement effective, evidence based prevention practices targeting prescription drug misuse and abuse.
