Abstract
The purpose of this research is to study how performers use non-verbal communication to create an interpersonal connection and draw out emotion from their audience. With current nationwide concerns of arts funding and the importance of performing arts being question, this research could be very helpful to understand the importance of the performing arts and its value in human communication. I will be looking over various periodicals and academic journals in the fields of Sociology, Music, and Communication to expand the theoretical knowledge of nonverbal communication and it's use in the performing arts.
