Abstract

This nonfiction piece details specific moments experienced by the author while studying abroad on the Marshall University sponsored trip to Florence, Italy in May and June of 2016. It looks at the struggles of studying abroad such as homesickness and dealing with cultural customs outside of one’s comfort zone as well as the moments of pure awe and happiness that occur when experiencing Florence and the surrounding area. Starting with the leave from Yeager Airport in Charleston, Wv the narrative weaves through the moments spent both within and outside of the classroom in Italy, ending on the last day in the city.
