Abstract
This research looks at President Donald Trump’s tweets using the phrase “fake news”. The goal is to pull themes from the tweets in an attempt to give insight into President Trump’s relationship with the media and potentially offer a new model of mediated communication stemming from the White House. The review published gives information pertaining to Cascading Action Theory, the current widely accepted model of communication between the President and the public. Information about messages being shared via Twitter is also included. By examining President Trump’s “fake news” tweets through grounded theory coding, this research attempts to show that President Trump is rerouting communication to allow direct access to the public, a tactic that has not been used by presidents before.
