Abstract

This research project is to analyze the Almodóvar’s film, All About My Mother, on how it looks at the treatment of women and the LGBTQ community and how it looks at the struggles of the 90s in Spain. With Spain’s long history of oppression of marginalized groups, Almodóvar uses his film to fight against the oppressions and to make a move toward change. This project will take a look back at Spain’s history with the rule of Francoand how the treatment of these marginalized groups escalated during this time. Then the project will take a deep dive into the film, All About My Mother, and use examples to show how Almodóvar confronts the social issues of these groups during the 1990s. This will be an oral presentation for my Spanish Capstone project.
