Abstract

The Marshall University Speech and Debate team presenters are thrilled to demonstrate one form of debate, IPDA. IPDA is the abbreviation for International Public Debate Association.

The IPDA philosophy was formed with the intention of using logical, evidence-based arguments. Therefore, IPDA uses shorter speaking times, no specific plans in the text of the discussion, and is judged by lay judges or people with little to no experience. The debate will be between two competitors whohave had thirty minutes to prep their cases directly before this exhibit.
